Focus and Determination Lead to Semi-Final Victory

Reflecting on his performance, the 24-year-old said, “I’m happy because this is my first Super 300 final. I wasn’t focused on the score; I was thinking about how to win the next point. I just want to take one match at a time and try my best.”

Just a day before, Teh achieved the biggest win of his career by defeating Hong Kong’s world No. 16 and top seed, Lee Cheuk Yiu, with a score of 21-18, 21-16 in the quarter-finals held at the Macau East Asian Games Dome.

Teh now faces a tough challenge in the final, where he will go up against Hong Kong’s second seed and world No. 25, Angus Ng. Ng secured his spot in the final by defeating Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan 8-21, 21-18, 21-16 in the other semi-final.

Achievements and Career Highlights

This is Teh’s furthest progression in a tournament of this level, just below the Super 1000, 750, and 500 events. His previous best result was reaching the semi-finals of another Super 300 event at the US Open in June.

Earlier this year, Teh also made it to the semi-finals at the Super 100 Vietnam Open in September and reached the final of the lower-tier Polish Open in March and Luxembourg Open two months later.

In 2022, Teh won a mixed team bronze at the Commonwealth Games and a men’s team bronze at the Asian Team Championships. He also has four bronze medals from the SEA Games in the men’s team event (2019, 2021, and 2023) and singles (2021).

As Teh prepares for his final match on September 29, he remains focused and determined to make history for Singapore badminton by clinching his first international title. All eyes will be on him as he faces Angus Ng in what promises to be an electrifying conclusion to the Macau Open.
